The Tormek grindstones are well known for grinding efficiency and extended stone life. If you take good care of your stone, you can expect to use it for many years to come.
Presentation of the range
There are four different types of grindstones, all optimised with the special qualities required for different applications. Common to all the Tormek® grindstones is that they are designed to give your tool a sharp and durable edge .
Original grindstone
The original Tormek® grindstone has evolved over the years to offer the best combination of efficient steel removal, smooth surface finish and long life.
The Tormek® Blackstone Silicon grindstone is more aggressive than the original Tormek® grindstone. It is developed for HSS, other exotic alloyed steels and wide bevel tools. It can also work with tungsten carbide.
Japanese grindstone
The Tormek® Japanese Waterstone has a grit size of 4,000 and provides an excellent surface finish on hand tools requiring little sharpening. It is ideal for sharpening carving tools. Designed to achieve the smoothest possible surface, it removes very little material and therefore cannot be used to form a tool edge.
Diamond wheel
The new Tormek® diamond wheels come in three different finishes: coarse, fine and extra fine. The quality of the diamond surface gives a high and constant sharpening capacity, so the wheel always keeps the same diameter. Users who frequently sharpen the same tool will appreciate this feature which simplifies both set-up and sharpening.
The Tormek Original Grindstone has evolved over the years to offer the best combination of efficient steel removal, smooth surface finish and a long life. This stone efficiently cuts all types of tools and steel qualities including HSS. Ø250 mm
Tormek Blackstone delivers faster steel removal on HSS and other exotic alloys than Tormek Original Grindstone. Suitable for tools with large bevel area. It can also touch up carbide. 220 grit.
This stone provides an extra fine surface finish on hand tools where a minimum of steel removal is needed. Ideal for carving tools. 4000 grit. Available in two sizes, 250 mm (for T-8, T-7 and 2000 models) and 200 mm (for T-4, T-3 and 1200 models). Since it is made to create the finest surface, it has a limited steel removal capacity and cannot be used for shaping a tool.
